Despite fatal police shootings, young people still carry illegal weapons

Baltimore police arrested two teenagers on Tuesday for gun violations.

The first incident occurred at approximately 3:47 a.m. in the 900 block of South Canton Avenue.

Police said they were talking to a 17-year-old when a gun fell out of his waistband.

The teenager also had drugs wrapped in a bag.

At around 10:30 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the 2800 block of West Franklin Street.

Of the four people in the car, a 16-year-old had a loaded gun and drugs with him.

The two gun arrests came just a week after Baltimore police shot and killed 17-year-old William Gardner.

According to police, images from a body camera show Gardner armed with a gun and apparently pointing it at police.

Last month, a 15-year-old turned himself in to face charges for shooting 14-year-old Jasper Davis at the Mondawmin subway station.

So far this year, since July 15, the Baltimore City Attorney's Office has charged 58 juveniles with weapons offenses.
