49ers superstar returns to full training after foot injury

The mood at the San Francisco 49ers hasn't been so great lately.

For a while, it seemed as if only bad news was coming from Santa Clara: Brandon Aiyuk had to sit out for a long time, Trent Williams had to sit out, and the injury list seemed to get longer every day.

One of the first injuries to come out of training camp was foot irritation to linebacker Fred Warner. The good news for the 49ers is that Warner returned to full practice on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

It didn't look like Warner's injury would keep him out of action for long. He even returned to training before Wednesday, but did not participate fully.

Still, the 49ers needed a win to overcome injury concerns, and it's good news that Warner is back to full fitness ahead of the team's second preseason game.

It's unclear if Warner will play on Sunday when the 49ers host the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Kyle Shanahan hinted that some starters could play since the club had to cancel joint practices with New Orleans. Those joint practices are typically classified as game replays for the 49ers, so they don't use their starters in the game.

With Warner just getting back into full practice, the team could sit out their All-Pro linebacker on Sunday. Regardless, he appears to be on track for Week 1, which is the best news the 49ers could get.
