Appleton man charged with drug offenses and endangerment after accident at southern Wisconsin high school

FRANKLIN, Wis. (WLUK) — An Appleton man has been charged following an accident at a high school in southern Wisconsin, according to WITI-TV.

Nathan Zuberbier, 41, is charged with possession of narcotics and three counts of second-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the incident at Franklin High School on August 8.

He made his first appearance in Milwaukee District Court on Wednesday, where bail was set at $1,000.

Citing the criminal complaint, WITI said police were dispatched to the school for a reported car accident. When officers arrived, they found Zuberbier unconscious in the driver's seat of an SUV lying in a ditch next to a wooded area.

Zuberbier was given Narcan twice.

The complaint states that during a “search of the car, a bag of Crown Royal whiskey was found on the passenger seat. Inside the bag were a red straw, a razor blade, a hotel key with stains on it, and a pack of Juicy Fruit gum. Inside the gum pack were suspected narcotics, a brown substance, and a white rock-like substance.

One of the substances tested positive for amphetamines, the other for heroin.

The complaint states that a witness told police she saw the SUV “driving at a high rate of speed in the parking lot” and that her own car was struck by the tree that Zuberbier crashed into. Three other witnesses told similar stories, WITI reports.
