Police arrest man in California missing person case and Reno shooting

Brent Clifford, a person of interest in a Reno murder and a missing person case in California, was arrested in California on Wednesday, authorities said.

Today, Clifford was taken into custody by Reno police and the Placer County and Plumas County sheriff's offices in Portola, California, on a valid California arrest warrant, authorities said.

Clifford was wanted by the RPD following a fatal shooting on Keystone Avenue in Reno. A man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head inside a residence in the 1300 block of Keystone Avenue, authorities said.

Clifford was also a person of interest in a case involving a missing woman from Kings Beach: Patricia Portella-Wright, 48.

A vehicle connected to the Reno case, a red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer, was seized by police. Portella-Wright has not been located and police are still searching for her.

Original story Reno police said Wednesday they are looking for a person of interest in both a missing person case in Placer County and a homicide case on Keystone Avenue.

Brent Clifford, 55, was last seen near California State Route 70 and Hallelujah Junction, near the California-Nevada state line on U.S. 395, police said Wednesday.

Around 6 a.m. Sunday morning, RPD responded to a report of suspicious circumstances in the 1300 block of Keystone Avenue in Reno.

Reno police found 68-year-old William F. Andrews of Reno dead inside a residence and determined he died of a gunshot wound. Andrews, who police believe was friends with Clifford, died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Washoe County coroner.

The investigation revealed that Clifford fled in Andrew's red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer with Nevada license plate PHF8942 and a square white sticker to the right of the rear license plate, police said. The SUV was last seen westbound on Highway 70 in California.

Clifford is also a person of interest in a missing person case in California. Police said Clifford was the last person seen with 48-year-old Patricia Portella-Wright, who disappeared from the Kings Beach area of ​​Lake Tahoe and was reported missing on Friday.

Portella-Wright is described as 5'9″ tall, with blonde hair, brown eyes and weighing 125 pounds. She was last seen in Reno on August 9.

Police believe she had a relationship with Clifford and fear she is in danger.
