Los Banos man arrested for attempted murder

Released from custody on bail

LOS BANOS, CA — On Monday, August 5, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Los Banos Police officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 200 block of Mercy Springs Road. When officers arrived, they found a man with multiple stab wounds. Several witnesses were present when this unprovoked attack occurred. The witnesses followed the suspect as he fled the area on foot. The suspect was able to elude the witnesses pursuing him, but they knew him by name and passed this information on to officers who responded to the call.

Officers secured several locations and were able to locate the person identified by witnesses. Reginald Scott Grimes Jr., 25 years old, of Los Banos, was arrested and taken to the Los Banos Jail. He is charged with attempted murder (664/187 PC).

Our thoughts are with the victim and his family as they recover from this senseless act.

According to the Merced County Sheriff's Office, Grimes was released from custody on bail on Tuesday, August 6.
