A man in his mid-twenties had multiple gunshot wounds all over his body, police said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at around 7:08 p.m.

Chief Inspector Scott Small was on scene during the investigation and told NBC10 that the victim was still sitting astride his mountain bike when he was found by rescuers.

According to Small, the man was carrying an identification card that told officers his last known address was just five blocks from where he was shot.

Investigators found 40 shell casings that appeared to have come from several semi-automatic weapons that were in close proximity, Small said. Most were within inches or feet of the victim.

Small said investigators are working to review surveillance cameras from residents and businesses, as well as a nearby SEPTA bus.

Surveillance video reviewed so far shows the man riding his mountain bike west along the 1500 block of Snyder Avenue when three men get out of a dark, black sedan and start shooting at him, Small said.

As the victim fell to the ground, still astride the bicycle, the shooters stood over him and continued shooting at him, Small said.

“Clearly a well-aimed, clearing shot in execution style,” said Small.

After the shooting, the three shooters got back into the sedan, which was last seen heading east on Snyder Avenue from 15th Street, Small said.

The crime scene is secured while officers investigate. No weapon was found and no one has been arrested so far.

Small told NBC10 that at least one of the victim's family members arrived at the scene after the shooting and is cooperating with investigators.
