Redding man arrested on multiple charges after leading police on chase through car wash | News

ANDERSON, California. – A Redding man was arrested after leading police on a chase after he was caught in a stolen truck in Anderson, Anderson police said.

On Wednesday at around 11:40 a.m., an Anderson police officer was on patrol and saw a 2004 Ford F350 driving on South Street near Highway 273.

Police said the truck was reported stolen by Redding police.

While the officer waited for more police to arrive to assist, the driver, 67-year-old Michael Leon Vandolah, drove into a car wash, police said.

The officer then turned on his emergency lights and began giving Vandolah instructions.

According to police, Vandolah ignored the officer's instructions, exited the truck and attempted to hide from the officer by running in front of the truck and then into another parking bay at the car wash.

Vandolah then tried to run away, but the officer chased him and deployed his taser. Police said Vandolah fell to the ground and was arrested after a brief struggle.

While searching the area, officers discovered that Vandolah had attempted to dispose of 2.5 ounces of heroin and 3.5 grams of meth while fleeing.

When searching the stolen truck, officers found a butterfly knife and drug paraphernalia.

A review of Vandolah's records revealed that he is on CDC probation, police said.

Vandolah was booked into the Shasta County Jail and charged with probation violation, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.

Police said additional charges of possession of heroin for sale and possession of meth will be filed with the Shasta County District Attorney's Office.
