Crime Stoppers offers $2,000 reward for information in Augusta murder

Crime Stoppers Atlanta is offering a $2,000 reward for information in the June 15 killing of 28-year-old Elias “Eli” J'Khael Delk, who was found dead in the parking lot of Dollar General on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Augusta.

The young father and aspiring musician was beaten to death by “numerous male and female assailants” after a robbery and suffered numerous blunt force injuries, according to previous reports.

Two people have been arrested in connection with Delk's death, but investigators are still looking for other suspects.

Creston Curry, 37, is charged with murder and armed robbery, The Chronicle reported. He was recently denied bail. Tamiko Shynese Bolton, 36, is also charged with murder, but his bail hearing is pending.

Jacinda Beverley, Delk's mother, said she had not returned to work since the murder and had spent sleepless nights going over and over what little information she had about her son's fate.

“It's like trying to understand an untold story,” Beverley said. “It's trying to fully understand why this happened and how it happened. It's just hard to move on when you know there were multiple people involved. [and haven’t been held accountable]. It's a lot – the burden I carry. I couldn't shake it off.”

The Chronicle previously reported that a video of the attack was circulating on social media. The video allegedly included footage of Delk's last breath while his attackers rummaged through his pockets.

“I heard there is a complete video of the [beating, in addition to] the short video of the robbery,” she said. “Personally, I would like to see the video. Of course, people have told me, 'You don't want to see it,' but I do. … I just want everything to be submitted [to investigators] and I want to hear what happened too. I just want the big picture if I can get it. … This was very traumatic. I'm a very strong woman and this broke me. It really broke me.”

Understanding that witnesses were hesitant to come forward and share video evidence or information about the incident, Beverley turned to Atlanta Crime Stoppers for help.

“It would help me regain my peace of mind because I know I can't bring him back, but I'm just thinking about the safety of the community,” she said. “Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization and they don't trace calls, they just take the information. Our family hopes the money will motivate someone to share their knowledge.”

According to Atlanta Crime Stoppers, individuals do not need to provide their name or other identifying information to be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000.

Anyone without information but still wanting to help the family can visit a page Beverley set up to raise money for Delk's 8-year-old son's future. All donations will go into a trust account for his future education.

Delk had no life insurance and his family is not eligible for Social Security survivor benefits.
