Two people arrested in search of a wanted man

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office arrested two men last Friday. One was wanted on a warrant and the other was attempting to avoid arrest.

Cody Hunter, 30, and Daniel King, 38, both of Ruston, were taken into custody on August 9. Hunter was wanted on numerous warrants and King allegedly tried to distract officers from searching for Hunter.

Officers went to a tow yard on Works Road to arrest Hunter, who was allegedly on the premises. Daniel King met officers at the shop's office door and said Hunter was not in the building. King said they could search, but then allegedly tried to direct officers into the tow yard to look for Hunter.

However, Hunter was found hiding behind a door in the building. He was taken into custody and officers then attempted to find King to find out why he had prevented them from arresting Hunter.

A deputy saw a man he believed to be King leave the tow yard in a vehicle driven by another person. The vehicle was stopped on US 80 and King was arrested.

King said he lied about Hunter's whereabouts and said he was trying to “defuse the situation.”

Hunter had three outstanding warrants from Lincoln Parish for domestic violence by strangulation, domestic violence endangering a child, and false imprisonment, as well as a warrant for failure to appear in court for loose dogs and a warrant from the Fourth Judicial District Court.

King was charged with obstruction of justice. His bail was set at $5,000.
