'Devastated': Raygun breaks his silence on his breakdance performance at the Olympics that earned zero points and went viral

Viral Australian breakdancer Raygun has broken her silence after failing to score a point at the Olympics.

The sport of breakdancing made its debut at this showcase in Paris and Raygun, whose real name is Rachael Gunn, was a big topic of conversation during the Games.

However, this was not for the right reasons, as Gunn, representing Australia, received a zero from the judges in each of her heats.

During her number, Gunn hopped like a kangaroo and writhed on the floor like a snake – which earned her a lot of ridicule on the Internet.

Gunn has finally responded to the attacks she has faced in a video posted on her Instagram page, admitting that the abuse was “pretty devastating.”

However, she had a lot of fun and became an Olympian.

“First of all, I would like to thank all the people who supported me,” she said.

“I really appreciate the positive vibe and am glad that I was able to bring some joy into your life. That's what I hoped.

“I didn't realize that this would also open the door to so much hate, which was, frankly, quite devastating.

“I was there and I had fun. I took it very seriously. I worked my ass off to work for the Olympics. I really did my best.”

“I am honoured to have been part of the Australian Olympic team and to have made my Olympic debut. What the other athletes have achieved has been phenomenal.”

The sport will not be represented at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, meaning Raygun has no chance for revenge.

But she became a viral sensation and is predicted to land lucrative brand deals thanks to her participation in Paris.

For now, however, Gunn will enjoy a planned break in Europe and urged social media to “stop harassing my family, my friends, the Australian breakdancing community and the wider street dance community,” adding: “Please respect their privacy.”
