Tottenham suspends midfield star after laughing gas incident

Tottenham Midfielder Yves Bissouma will be missing Premier League season opening match against Leicester City after being suspended by the club.

Ange Postecoglu's side travel to the newly promoted Foxes on August 19, with new signing Dominc Solanke expected to make his debut after joining the club from Bournemouth for a record £65 million ($83 million).

However, Malian international Bissouma will not take part after a video was posted on social media showing him inhaling laughing gas.

Postecoglu hit out at the incident, insisting the former Brighton & Hove Albion star must learn from his mistake.

“When such a situation arises, I look at it from different angles. Firstly, there is one person, Biss, and he made a bad decision,” Postecoglu said during his pre-match press conference.

“He will not be available on Monday. We have suspended him for the game. He needs to rebuild trust with me and the group. The door is open for him and hopefully we can help him realise that his decisions have an impact on the group.”

In addition to Postecoglu's update on the situation, Bissouma also apologized for a “serious lack of judgement” regarding the incident and continues to train with the first team.

The ban is not expected to extend beyond the trip to Leicester and Bissouma is expected to play in Spurs' first home game of the new season against Everton on August 24.
