Katy Perry is 'investigated' after filming her music videos in Ibiza

Did you know that Katy Perry just released two new songs? Or that she's releasing her seventh album, '143', in a few weeks? If not, you're not alone. What should have been an iconic comeback for the pop star is turning out to be an epic flop, and things are only going to get worse as the 39-year-old is now being investigated by the Spanish government for filming on a remote island without permission. Read on to find out more.

Katy Perry is being investigated for environmental damage

Although her single “Lifetimes” wasn't as successful as she had hoped, the singer decided to shoot a music video, perhaps to boost the song's reputation. And although she chose a beautiful location to shoot the music video – the Spanish islands of Ibiza and Formentera – it seems she or someone on her team forgot one of the most important items on her checklist: a filming permit.

One of the Balearic Islands, as they are called, has environmentally sensitive sand dunes, and according to the islands' environmental agency, the production company behind the video, WeOwnTheCity, did not receive permission to film at the location. Perry is now under investigation as authorities look into possible damage to the dunes.

Fans criticize Katy Perry and call her “the worst comeback ever”

When news outlets reported on Katy Perry's misconduct, many fans – or rather critics – took it as an opportunity to not only criticize the “Firework” singer for her insensitivity, but also to point out what a flop this entire era is for the star. “She and JLo are competing for the worst comeback ever,” one person commented on Instagram.

“How can there be so many people involved and no one said, 'Hey, maybe we should make sure we can film here?'” another person asked.

“This AND working with Dr. Luke???” said a third person, referring to abuse-accused Dr. Luke, who is involved in producing Perry's upcoming album. “Girl can't pick her fight.”

“I need scientific papers on how every move she makes is driving her in the wrong direction,” another user added.

“Wrong dunes, wrong melodies,” said one person.

“Girl can’t get it!” wrote one last person.
