Several people arrested for drug overdose deaths

According to TMZ and NBC News, several people have been arrested in connection with the drug overdose death of actor Matthew Perry.

Perry, 54, died on October 28, 2023, after being found facedown in a hot tub at his Los Angeles-area home. A medical examiner concluded that his cause of death was due to “the acute effects of ketamine,” prompting Los Angeles police to launch an investigation into the source of the drugs.

Now TMZ reports that at least one doctor and several drug dealers have been arrested.

The Friends The actor underwent ketamine infusion therapy to treat depression and anxiety, but his last session was a week and a half before his death. According to NBC News, the medical examiner determined that the ketamine in Perry's body “could not have come from that infusion therapy” due to its short half-life.

The LAPD search warrants also reportedly contain text messages from Perry in which he described his interest in ketamine and explained how much he would be willing to pay for the drugs.
