Date and location of next fight against Gervonta Davis announced

For the vast majority of boxing fans, Gervonta Davis is one of the top three fighters in the sport when it comes to the draw of pay-per-view contenders, but he and Canelo Alvarez remain at the top of the list. Now, there appears to be a new date on the calendar, with a date and venue already announced for Davis' second fight of the year.

“Tank” was promoted from WBA Regular Lightweight World Champion to full WBA Lightweight World Champion last November and defended his new title for the first time at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas against Frank Martin. The Baltimore native scored another stoppage victory.

With the belts spread across the 135-pound division, the expectation is on Gervonta Davis' shoulders to face the likes of Vasyl Lomachenko (IBF) and Shakur Stevenson (WBC) in unification fights, although the latter has been heavily linked with a showdown with the southpaw sensation after “Loma” ruled himself out.

Instead, there were rumors that Davis and Stevenson would face off in an all-American fight for the WBA and WBC titles. There were even rumors that the two had agreed to face each other in November, but Stevenson denied these claims.

Unfortunately for combat sports fans, William Zepeda now appears set to face Stevenson after it was reported that the WBC titlist has “verbally agreed” to face the Mexican, who is ranked as the number one contender by all four sanctioning bodies. However, Davis will still fight in November as TGB Promotions has booked the T-Mobile Arena (Las Vegas) for a November 2nd show.

“TGB Promotions (the promoters who run most of Haymon's PBC events) have now booked November 2nd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, leading to speculation that this could be the date and venue for Gervonta Davis' next fight.”
