Yossi Green releases heartfelt “Nachamu Nachamu Ami”

Before I describe the inspiration behind the composition, I must first thank Hashem for introducing me to this precious Avreich painter. His name is Elisha Katz – אלישע כ”ץ of ירושלים and his incredible inner vision brought forth this powerful image of a בית המקדש השלישי! What I felt when I saw his painting I do not need to put into words, for I know that whoever perceives it will feel what I felt. In a few short words, עומד על גג בית המקדש ומשמיע לישראל ואומר… because a picture is now so much closer for me… and I hope for everyone else who sees it. Thank you, אלישע!

The song Nachamu Nachamu is the first song released from our new project Yiddish Nachas 5. These holy, comforting words spoken by הקב”ה through ישעיהו הנביא have been with me for so many years. Every year at the climax of the fast of Tisha B'av and the beginning of שבע דנחמתא, the seven weeks of Nechama, I would sit down at the piano again and try to “understand musically” the beautiful words. But I just couldn't break through. Some time ago, with great סייעתא דשמיא, a window seemed to open for me as the melody began to flow with the words. What Klal Yisroel has been going through lately defies comprehension and seems to clearly point to the end of times that has been foretold to us. It is quite clear that the final Mishnah in מסכת סוטה has come to life and the time of the advent of Bias Hamishiach has arrived. There is simply no other explanation! This time I felt a sense of calm… a sense of deep comfort… a sense of… maybe this was exactly what I was looking for. I called my musical partner in Yiddish Nachas, the super-talented Moshe Kraus, and walked it through him and watched as he started to smile and nod and said, “Yes, the kids will sound angelic to this tune!”
