Gasoline prices at pumps in the Gainesville area have fallen slightly

Gasoline prices at the pump continue to drop slightly each week, with a four-cent drop in the Gainesville area since last week.

According to AAA's weekly gasoline report released Thursday, the price per gallon fell to $3.42 from $3.46 last week. In Florida, prices fell on average from $3.40 to $3.37, and nationally the average price fell one cent from $3.45 to $3.44.

“Summer is coming to an end, and so far, gas prices have barely budged,” AAA spokesman Andrew Gross said in the press release. “But hurricane season still has a long way to go, so it's too early to say pump prices have begun their usual fall slump.”
