The latest on Patrick Kutas and Arkansas injury news after second fall training game

Arkansas The football team finished its final practice game of fall camp on Thursday morning, and while several key players returned from injuries, several key offensive players were left out or had limited opportunities. Head Coach Sam Pittman announced that all but three players from the injury report from last week's practice game returned on Thursday.

The biggest question mark regarding injuries is the status of the left starting guard Patrick Kutas. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound junior is recovering from a back injury sustained on the second day of fall camp and has not practiced since. Speaking to the media Thursday, Pittman said there is currently no definitive timetable for Kutas' return.

“We're still getting glimpses of him,” Pittman said. “We're hoping he'll be back by Monday. To be honest, it could be next Monday. So we're still waiting.”

“He's in rehab right now, rebuilding his back and he's doing much better. We don't want to send him out too quickly so it doesn't impact him all year. So we're being very, very cautious with him. And we're really just going by how he feels.”

The Hogs suffered another setback in the offensive line during the practice game when the backup right guard Ty'Kieast Crawford went down with a shoulder injury during the practice game. Fortunately for the Razorbacks, Pittman said Crawford's injury is “nothing serious” at this point.

As for the other notable non-participants, wideouts Andrew Armstrong (thigh) and Tyrone Broden (turf toe) both stripped down and completed the practice sessions before being ruled out of the practice game. Pittman also said that this running back Ja'Quinden Jackson played “a little bit” during the practice game after missing last week due to ankle problems.

The only other injury Pittman mentioned after Thursday's practice game was the transfer kicker Kyle RamseyAccording to Pittman, Ramsey is battling a groin injury that will limit him during camp.

Thursday’s practice game was just the last of fall camp as the team prepares for the 2024 season. On Thursday, it was exactly two weeks until the Razorbacks start the season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on August 29 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CDT) and the game will be televised by ESPNU.
