Truck driver killed in single-vehicle crash on Highway 84 in Adams County

A Smithdale man was killed in a fatal accident Thursday morning when his truck left Highway 84 and collided with a creek embankment.

On August 15 at approximately 9:27 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident in Adams County.

Preliminary investigations revealed that 49-year-old Robert Berryhill III was traveling east on Highway 84 in a 2025 Western Star when the vehicle left the road for reasons still under investigation.

Berryhill's truck then crashed into a creek embankment. Rescue workers confirmed his death at the scene of the accident.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident. No further details have been released.
