Several suspects arrested in connection with the murder of the “General Hospital” actor

At least three suspects have been served with search warrants by the LAPD's homicide unit in connection with the death of Johnny Wactor, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times on Thursday. Two were held on bail. The 37-year-old, who appeared on “General Hospital,” was shot dead in downtown Los Angeles on May 25 during an alleged attempt to steal a catalytic converter.

The Times reported that anonymous law enforcement sources said the Wactor investigation was targeting members of the Florencia 13 gang, who are linked to catalytic converter thefts in the area. A probable cause statement was used to obtain arrest warrants for three people whose fingerprints matched those taken from a car jack used to steal Wactor's catalytic converter.

Shortly after Wactor's death, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to raise funds for the actor's family. Since its launch, over $144,000 has been raised. Wactor's godmother, Michaelle Kinard, started the campaign.

“On May 25th, my dearest and best friend's son was murdered. He was the victim of a senseless crime,” Kinard wrote on the page. “Early Saturday morning, Johnny was leaving his evening job with a co-worker when they encountered three guys trying to steal his catalytic converter. He thought he was going to be towed and asked, 'Am I going to be towed?' The person stood up wearing a mask, said nothing and shot him.”

“God willing, the killer will be arrested and the family will come face to face with him,” Kinard added. “That could help bring closure to this tragedy. Any excess funds will be donated to charities the family chooses in Johnny's memory.”

In “General Hospital,” Wactor played Brando, the son of Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Borroughs) and husband of drug addict Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson). Wactor’s time on the show spanned from 2020 to 2022 and spanned more than 160 episodes.
