Death of Johnny Wactor: Police arrest four people in connection with the killing of the “General Hospital” actor

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles police have arrested four suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of former “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor.

The four suspects arrested are between the ages of 18 and 22 and are from Huntington Park, Inglewood and cities in Los Angeles County. Three of the suspects were arrested on warrants for murder and the fourth was charged as an accessory to the crime.

A Press release According to the LAPD, officers executed search warrants that led to the arrests early Thursday morning and seized additional evidence. No further details about the arrests or the evidence were released.

Wactor was shot when he disturbed thieves trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car early on the morning of May 25. Police said the 37-year-old was leaving work at a rooftop bar with a colleague when he saw three men lifting his car. Police said one of them shot and killed him without provocation.

The men fled in a car and Wactor was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The county coroner said Wactor died of a gunshot wound to the chest and ruled the death a homicide.

On August 5, police asked the public for help in Identification of suspectsand released surveillance images of them and their getaway car.

Wactor, a South Carolina native, portrayed Brando Corbin on the ABC soap opera from 2020 to 2022. He has also appeared in numerous films and television series, including “Station 19,” “NCIS,” “Westworld” and the video game “Call of Duty: Vanguard.”

His agent, David Shaul, said shortly after Wactor's death that he “always kept his head up and continued to strive to be the best he could be.”

At a press conference earlier this week, his mother described the feeling of losing him.

“Grief is my constant companion,” said Scarlett Wactor. “I can't wish him a happy birthday on August 31st – he would have turned 38. I can't ask him if he's coming home for Christmas. I can't ask him how his day was.”
