Caldwell County Jail considers new inmate health care provider amid doubled costs

Caldwell County Jailer Willie Harper informed the Fiscal Court on Tuesday that the local facility is considering changing inmate health care providers because the costs of the planned contract renewal with the current medical provider have increased significantly.

Harper says the prison's medical contract has doubled for the new year and he wants to switch providers.

Click here to download the audio He mentioned that under the current contract, the doctor comes by about twice a month, while the new company, Three C's – Comprehensive Correctional Care – will be at the prison weekly.

James Wiseman, President of Three C's and Marshall County resident, shared his background and the company he founded.

Click here to download the audio. He also explained that the state requires that inmates' health be protected from the time they enter the facility until they are released, and that his company does just that.
