Brent Clifford, the son of Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug Clifford, is charged with murder in California and Nevada

The son of Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug Clifford is accused of killing his California girlfriend who disappeared six days before her presumed body was discovered along a Nevada highway.

Brent Clifford, 55, was booked into the South Placer County Jail on murder charges in the death of Patricia Portella-Wright, who was reported missing after failing to show up for work on August 9, ABC10 reported.

Portella-Wright, 48, was last seen five days earlier, on the morning of Aug. 4, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office.

Police and search and rescue crews found a body believed to be that of Portella-Wright in an embankment near Mount Rose Highway in Washoe County, Nevada on Thursday.

“Through investigation, we received information that led us to the area of ​​Mount Rose Highway. Using a drone, we were able to locate the body of a woman on a steep slope,” the sheriff's office said.

Police, who “tentatively” identified the body as that of Portella-Wright, were awaiting confirmation from the Washoe County Coroner's Office.

They could not identify a motive for the murder, but said it was “obviously a crime.”

Police had identified Clifford as a person of interest in connection with Portella-Wright's disappearance because she was reportedly last seen with her boyfriend.

Clifford was also named as a person of interest in a homicide in Reno, Nevada, after Reno police said he traveled to the city from the Tahoe area on Aug. 9 to visit a friend, the Reno Gazette Journal reported.

William Andrews, 68, was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the 1300 block of Keystone Avenue in Reno, according to police and ABC 10.

Clifford is said to have stolen Andrews' red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer.

The car was later spotted westbound on Highway 70 in California, which led police to Plumas County, police said.

Clifford was taken into police custody shortly before 4 p.m. on August 14 in Portola, California, 60 miles northwest of Kings Beach, on an identity theft warrant in connection with Portella-Wright's disappearance.

He was charged with murder and taken to the Placer County Jail after the body was discovered.

According to jail records reviewed by The Post, Clifford is not eligible for bail.

The band, which consisted of John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, was first inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

After the band disbanded in 1972, Cook and Clifford formed Creedence Clearwater Revisted, where they performed from 1995 to 2020.
