The man accused of running over a Ventura County sheriff's deputy while trying to flee from authorities is due to appear in a Ventura courtroom Friday afternoon.

Bryan Torres-Aparicio, 30, of Ventura, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the Oxnard Transportation Center, one day after the incident that occurred Tuesday evening at a gas station on the corner of Ventura Avenue and Kellogg Street in West Ventura.

The officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered that there was an arrest warrant against Torres-Aparicio.

Due to previous convictions for drug offenses, he is under the supervision of a prison supervisory authority.

When the officers tried to arrest him, they say he resisted arrest, got back into his vehicle and drove away, dragging one of the officers with him and running over her legs.

The deputy was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, Torres-Aparicio was the subject of an intensive manhunt by multiple law enforcement agencies and was eventually captured the next day at the Oxnard Transportation Center.

He was booked into the Ventura County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, resisting prosecution, and violating the terms of his Post Release Offender Status (PROS).

Although he is being held on $10,000 bail, he cannot be released for violating the PROS Act.
