Barcelona insiders are angry with the club over recent leaks – “I don’t believe the club anymore”

Barcelona have tested the faith of their fans in recent years and now, for the third summer in a row, the drama surrounding player signings looks set to drag on into the final days of the transfer window. This is despite president Joan Laporta declaring in early July that the club would stay within its salary cap again this year and claiming it could afford to sign players such as Nico Williams.

Williams would have cost Barcelona €62 million to activate his release clause, the same price paid by RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo if all his targets were met. On Friday, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirmed that Olmo would miss the club's season debut against Valencia due to fitness issues, but he is not yet registered in La Liga.

Speaking to one of his regular correspondents on Jijantes, Gerard Romero questioned not only the club's actions but also the information that is leaking out.

“I don't believe the club at the moment. It's time for me to just stop believing them and I feel that way, I'm sorry, Lluis. I feel that way because the club is not meeting the deadlines they have set over the last few months. And I don't want to fall into the trap of creating a fuss about players who could come if you spend the whole damn summer not cleaning out the squad and then you're left with a watery throat on August 14.”
