Dirt track legend Scott Bloomquist killed in plane crash

Dirt track legend Scott Bloomquist was killed in a plane crash near his home in Mooresburg, Tennessee on Friday morning. The Rogersville Review reported the news just after 8:30 a.m., stating that local authorities confirmed Bloomquist was “involved in a small plane crash.”

Bloomquist, a member of the Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame, will go down in history as one of the greatest Dirt Late Model drivers of all time with a nearly unmatched resume.

In recent years, Bloomquist has struggled with a variety of injuries, including a leg injury sustained in a motorcycle accident and a foot injury prior to the 2023 Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora Speedway. He was also recently hospitalized after a “bizarre experience” involving a horsefly bite.

Despite all of this, Bloomquist remained motivated to get back to winning ways in the biggest dirt late model races.

Bloomquist and his father enjoyed flying vintage aircraft and own a collection that was on display during the Road to Eldora in 2022.

FloRacing will continue to monitor this development and provide updates as they become available.
