Man drives recklessly into school zone, an incident of aggression at the wheel occurs

Police are still investigating who the attacker was. The suspected reckless driver may need stitches after being hit in the head with his own weapon.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are questioning two men following an apparent road rage incident Friday morning in a northeast school zone.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:35 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Champlain and Independence Avenue. According to police, one of the men stopped his Audi after seeing the other man driving recklessly through a school zone. The Audi driver told him to slow down and watch the children. The alleged reckless driver became angry, stopped and began to confront the Audi driver before leaving the scene of the accident.

Later, police say, the reckless driver returned and confronted the Audi driver with a gun. The Audi driver then pulled out his phone to record him. The Audi driver then disarmed the reckless driver by hitting him in the head with his own gun, officials say. He also fired shots at or toward the reckless driver.

It is unknown if anyone was hit by a bullet, but SAPD says the reckless driver may have needed “stitches for a head wound caused by pistol blows.”

CSI is currently reviewing cell phone records for evidence. Both men are considered suspects as the investigation into who the attacker was is still ongoing.

SAPD advises not to drive recklessly in school zones, especially since school starts earlier this week.
