Michigan football staffer Connor Stalions gets defensive coordinator job after sign-stealing scandal

Former Michigan football employee Connor Stalions, who was heavily involved in the program's sign-stealing scandal, is back on the sidelines. He will serve as Detroit Mumford's defensive coordinator under head coach William McMichael, according to David Goricki of The Detroit News.

“I have the most hated man in college football right now, Connor Stalions,” McMichael said. “He's my defensive coordinator.”

Stalions was at the forefront of the Michigan football team's sign-stealing plot, to the point that Stalions “emerged as the architect of a vast network that sent various individuals to games featuring future Michigan opponents using tickets he allegedly purchased over a three-year period.”

“Jeremiah committed to Michigan and I got to know (Stalions) during the recruiting process,” said McMichael, who said Stalions works as a volunteer on his staff. “He's outstanding. I think he knows Michigan's defense as well as anyone who was there with (former defensive coordinator Jesse) Minter and all the others.”

“He's great with the kids, has a great understanding of football and we learn a lot – not just the kids, but the coaching staff. He's a great addition to what we do. He can help prepare the kids for college. They learn the language, how they coach in college and how they analyze film, so that gives the kids an advantage.”

“I'm not worried about it,” McMichael said. “What happened with the NCAA doesn't worry us here at Mumford. He comes here every day and gives 120%, and the kids all love him and we all learn from him.”
