A Florida man was sent to jail on suspicion of taking photos up the skirts of female customers at an Alachua County grocery store.

Thomas Burns, 45, was arrested by detectives Wednesday on charges of video voyeurism and using a two-way communication device to commit a crime, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office said.

In June of this year, officers responded to a report from a local grocery store where a suspicious person had been observed taking photos up customers' skirts.

According to the officers, surveillance camera footage shows the suspect putting his cell phone in a shopping cart, approaching several women from behind and briefly placing the basket under their skirts.

After an investigation, officers identified Burns as a possible suspect, which led to a search warrant and probable cause for his arrest.

Burns is being held in the Alachua County Jail on $60,000 bail.

Investigators suspect that Burns may have targeted local grocery stores and large retail chains over the past two years and committed acts of video voyeurism there.

Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes Burns and believes he may be a victim to contact Det. Adkins at [email protected].

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed if more victims come forward.
