Inmates try to escape from prison by dressing up as women during visiting hours

Two dangerous male criminals incarcerated in a correctional facility in Fortaleza, Brazil, attempted a daring escape by disguising themselves as women and walking out during visiting hours.

Francisco Átila da Silva and Carlos Antônio da Silva Oliveira, suspected members of a criminal group in Ceará with long criminal records including drug trafficking, robbery and murder, were caught trying to escape from Itaitinga 3 prison in Fortaleza, Brazil, while dressed in rudimentary female disguises. The two men wore long black wigs, pink skirts and white T-shirts, and even had improvised breasts to fool the guards. They tried to mingle with real women at the end of conjugal visiting hours to reduce the risk of being noticed by the guards, but their slutty outfits were quickly discovered and the two were arrested before they left the prison.

The Brazilian Civil Police are currently investigating how the inmates got hold of the female disguises and whether they were helped in any way by other people. Promoting or facilitating the escape of a detained person is a crime punishable by 6 months to 2 years in prison.

Because of their failed prison escape, the two prisoners now face internal disciplinary proceedings and their current prison sentences could be significantly extended.

Believe it or not, these silly prison escapes are not uncommon. A man from Paraguay tried something similar a few years ago, but put a little more effort into it, and a man from Venezuela had his girlfriend drag him out of prison in a suitcase. And who could forget the Peruvian man who escaped from prison by leaving his twin brother behind to take his place?
