What is RushTok? Sororities are going viral to attract new members

Sororities across America have adopted TikTok’s “RushTok” trend with their viral recruitment videos, and viewers are “living” for the fun, inclusive content.

As Greek life's bid week continues, college sororities have gone viral on TikTok by posting unique dances to look more fun and interesting than their competitors.

To find these videos, users just need to search for “RushTok.” There, viewers will find sororities like Alpha Phi, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, and more trying to recruit new members.

To join the sorority, new members often have to undergo a rigorous test before a final decision is made, ensuring that they are a perfect fit for the sorority they are applying to.

However, with the announcement of recruits on Sunday, August 18, Greek life has completely taken over the platform with its version of recruitment – dancing.

Kappa Delta of the University of Georgia shared its viral version of recruiting new members for its sorority by choreographing to a remix of Jason Aldean's hit “Country Girl.”

“We are on the hunt,” was the caption of their TikTok video, which received over 3 million views.

Alpha Chi Omega of the University of Tennessee also shared their recruitment video in which they danced to “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyoncé.

The sorority was apparently sponsored by sportswear company GymShark as well as Prime Hydration.

After it went viral, Logan Paul, the founder of Prime, even commented on their TikTok: “You all ate.”

Georgia Southern's Alpha Delta Phi also went viral by swag surfing to “Swag Surfin” by Fast Life Yungstaz.

Viewers enjoyed their dance so much that many agreed they would “live” for all sorority content on “RushTok.”

While RushTok focuses primarily on sororities, viral recruitment videos aren't the only reason Greek life has gone viral on TikTok.

In October 2023, actor Will Ferrell rose to fame after surprising his son by DJing at a Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity party.
