Miamisburg Police Lt. Will Ring told News Center 7 that a police chase through several counties in the area ended with the suspect colliding with a train.

This presence resulted in a nearly two-hour closure of Miamisburg City Schools.

At around 3:15 p.m., parents at Miamisburg City Schools received a message saying, “All of our students are safe and in their buildings.”

“We have an active police situation downtown. Police have informed us that all students must remain in their buildings until further notice. We are unable to move buses at this time. More information to follow,” the message continued.

“If you have an address in Aberdeen, you can collect your child at the main entrance of the building. We will check ID before release,” the statement said.

Justin Ward, a parent from Miamisburg, said he was pleased with the district's announcement.

“Oh, I thought the communication from Miamisburg City Schools was great. They let you know that everyone was safe and we were in lockdown, and you know, he was safe at the end of the day, got his phone so I could communicate with him, and there was a little bit of line, but no big deal. So safety always comes first,” Ward said.
