Orangetown Police and SWAT respond to incident in Nyack, NY on Friday

In a quiet Nyack neighborhood, a street was closed Friday afternoon as police rushed to a man in distress at the Rose Garden Apartments on Francis Avenue.

According to Lt. Michael Boysa of the Orangetown Police Department, police responded to “a lone offender in a crisis situation.” Boysa could not provide further details.

On Friday, Orangetown police could be seen blocking the entrance to 6th Avenue and redirecting traffic. SWAT vehicles were seen on North Midland Avenue near 6th Avenue.

At around 1:30 p.m., officers in tactical gear were present near the scene. In addition to the Orangetown Police Department and SWAT team, the Clarkstown, Suffern and Haverstraw police departments and the Rockland County Sheriff's Office were also on the scene. The Nyack Rescue Squad was also on the scene.
