Former nursing home employee allegedly stole thousands from residents – WSB-TV Channel 2

FORSYTH COUNTY, Georgia – A former caregiver at a Forsyth County nursing home has been charged with alleged financial crimes against elderly residents.

Marilyn Fulks is accused of stealing prepaid payment cards sent by the Georgia Department of Human Services to Chestnut Ridge in Cumming.

The cards contained an amount of $350 and were intended for use by elderly residents to cover basic needs.

The police said Tom Regan from Channel 2 that Fulks used the money for her own expenses.

Salina Williams, whose mother-in-law lives in Chestnut Ridge, told Regan she was stunned by the former employee's arrest.

“It's alarming. It's unfortunate. It's unfortunate that you hear things like this in many facilities of this nature. It's frightening,” Williams said.

According to police, Fulks was charged with 106 counts of elder abuse, identity theft and payment card theft.

They say there are 35 victims and the scam amounts to $15,000.

Fulks was released from prison on bail.

The nursing home said it did not wish to comment on the former employee and simply stated that she no longer works at the facility.
