Man convicted of killing teenager during 2021 drug robbery, Gwinnett district attorney says

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – A 20-year-old man has been convicted of killing a teenager during a drug robbery in 2021, according to the Gwinnett County District Attorney.

The district attorney said Jaiden Williams, now 20, was convicted of shooting 17-year-old Orbit Pough III during a robbery on July 26, 2021.

According to the district attorney, Williams told Pough he wanted to buy a vape cartridge. On the way to the drug deal, Williams shot Pough “when Williams said Pough looked suspicious,” prosecutors said.

Williams shot Pough in the side; Pough returned fire, hitting Williams in the neck. Pough died of his injuries and Williams was paralyzed from the waist down, the district attorney said.

Williams was found guilty of two counts of murder, aggravated assault, attempted commission of a felony and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole and five years of probation.

“The defendant was only 17 years old when he took the victim's life. This sentence will be a long and hard lesson for him. But we simply cannot tolerate our young people going down such violent paths,” said Patsy Austin-Gatson, Gwinnett County District Attorney.
