Stanton woman allegedly stole thousands from her former employer

STANTON COUNTY, Nebraska (KOLN) – A Stanton woman accused of stealing more than $13,000 from her former employer was arrested Thursday morning.

The Stanton County Sheriff's Office took 51-year-old Jennifer Johnson into custody and, after a lengthy investigation, issued a warrant for her arrest on charges of grand larceny.

Johnson posted bail of 10% of $100,000 and her appearance in Stanton District Court is scheduled for September.

Johnson was previously arrested in 2000 for stealing money from Stanton High School, where she had previously worked as a recreation secretary, the sheriff's office said.

She pleaded guilty and received a reduced charge of theft, a suspended sentence, and paid more than $11,000 in restitution.
