Kamala Harris goes viral with a Trump parody after complaining about high prices: “This is devastating”

Vice President Kamala Harris' photo made headlines on Friday after she lamented the rapidly rising prices of American goods since former President Trump's term in office “before the pandemic.”

In her economic policy speech in Raleigh, North Carolina, Harris blamed the supply chain crisis during the COVID pandemic for inflation, but stressed that “prices are still too high” even though “our supply chains have improved.”

“A loaf of bread costs 50% more today than it did before the pandemic,” Harris once said. “Ground beef is almost 50% more expensive.”

This quote was quickly cut out and a disclaimer from an official campaign ad was added at the end: “I am Donald Trump and I agree with this message.”

Popular X-account End Wokeness shared it, saying it was “the shortest political ad for former President Trump I've ever seen.”

Others took to social media to poke fun at the Democratic candidate's expense and boasted about the effectiveness of Trump's parody ads.

“Oh man. This is devastating,” said Fox News contributor Joe Concha.

“This is well done,” said Outkick founder Clay Travis. “Kamala just said in her economic speech that prices were much better when Trump was in office. Now she's promoting Trump.”

“This is just unbelievable,” posted former Trump adviser Hogan Gidley.

Obama's economist rejects Kamala Harris' price control plan: “This is not a sensible policy.”

The Trump War Room also mocked Harris, writing: “We certainly appreciate your honesty.”

The post reached more than 2.5 million views within a few hours.

The Harris team introduced the first nationwide corporate price-fixing plan as part of a broader initiative to reduce food prices and other everyday expenses.

“There is a big difference between fair prices in competitive markets and inflated prices that are disproportionate to the cost of doing business,” the Harris campaign said in a statement. “Americans can see that difference in their grocery bills.”

The proposal would give the authority Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general should impose harsh penalties on companies that set excessive prices.

However, some economists and financial experts express doubts about Harris' plan, arguing that companies do not play a major role in increasing food prices.

Washington Post columnist Catherine Rampell criticized the plan, writing, “It's hard to overstate how bad this policy is.”

“If your opponent claims you are a communist, maybe you shouldn't start with an economic agenda that could (aptly) be called government price controls,” Rampell wrote Thursday.
