West Monroe man sentenced to 46 months in prison after being charged with illegal possession of a firearm

WEST MONROE, Louisiana (KNOE) – An Ouachita Parish man has been sentenced to prison after being charged with illegal possession of a firearm.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Monroe police received a call on November 24, 2022, that Elliott had a silver and black handgun hidden in his waistband.

When officers arrived at the scene, Elliott ran away and a chase ensued.

Officers arrested Elliott and searched his car. They found the gun in the center console.

According to authorities, Elliot had already been convicted of a serious crime three times at the time and was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.

Elliot was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughtry to 46 months in prison, followed by three years of probation, for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
