Woman accused of murdering her stepfather in Indiana faces new charges

Further charges filed against southern Indiana woman accused of killing her stepfather

Prosecutors in southern Indiana have filed additional charges and are seeking a life sentence in the case of a woman accused of conspiring with her mother to kill her stepfather. Harold Allen died in December 2022. Months after his death, investigators determined he died after drinking a root beer float tainted with antifreeze at his Jackson County home. His stepdaughter, Ashley Jones, has been charged with murder. Jones' mother, Marsha Allen, apparently committed suicide after being questioned by police. New court documents include text messages between Jones and her mother showing they had already poisoned Allen twice, but he survived. Prosecutors have filed attempted murder charges against Jones.
