Viral TikTok candy bar causes excitement among Bangor food truck customers

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – A delicious treat is now going viral around the world.

A chocolate treat with dough and pistachios has shocked taste buds everywhere, so a Bangor chef decided to give it a try.

If you use TikTok, you may have come across the viral treat created by a chocolatier.

“She created this candy bar in a store there and the crunch got a lot of attention,” said Anik Derphilibossian, owner of Bangor-based Dreamer Food.

Derphilibossian decided to try it himself to find out what all the hype was about.

“It's a very delicate and specific matter in terms of manufacturing, it's not as easy as people on TikTok make it out to be,” Derphilibossian said.

TV5 wanted to observe the creation process of this new, trendy delicacy.

“This is kataifi, which is shredded filo dough,” Derphilibossian said. “This is cut into tiny, tiny pieces, then toasted with butter and then it becomes this. This is one of the pistachio variations and sometimes we add a little tahini to loosen it up with the kataifi and this is what comes out. We have the double boiler and just some water and just melt some high-quality chocolates.”

Then the magic happens.

The chocolate goes into the mold and is then frozen.

Once the shaping is complete, it is given a beautiful finish of gold dust.

After listing the delicacy for sale on Dreamer Food's Facebook page, they were inundated with orders.

A chocolate specialty that delights taste buds all over the world.

The chocolate bar was so popular that it was already fully booked.
