Waco man arrested after allegedly robbing a store and attacking his girlfriend in two separate incidents

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A Waco man was arrested after robbing a store and assaulting his girlfriend in two separate incidents, affidavits say.

34-year-old Rapheal Jermain Marshall is accused of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and assault on a family member with a previous conviction.

According to the affidavit, police were dispatched to A Game Room in the 1700 block of Concord Avenue on March 19 for a report of an aggravated robbery.

When police arrived on scene, officers spoke with a store employee and reviewed surveillance footage.

The employee told police that a man, later identified as Marshall, rang the doorbell.

When the employee opened the door, Marshall stormed in and pointed a gun at him, the affidavit states.

According to the affidavit, the employee said Marshall frisked him, took money from the cash register and left the store.

Police reviewed surveillance footage of the incident, which confirmed the employee's statement, the affidavit said.

Upon reviewing the footage, the affidavit states that Marshall can be seen wearing a white face mask, a tan hoodie, purple/blue gloves, black pants, and black shoes.

The affidavit states that Marshall also stole a bicycle from a man who was sleeping at a bus stop next to the store.

McLennan County officers assisted in patrolling the area and, according to the affidavit, found a bicycle and a purple and blue glove in the 1200 block of Indiana Avenue.

Police sent swabs from the glove to the Texas DPS's Waco Crime Lab and the results led authorities to Marshall as a possible suspect in the incident, the affidavit states.

Further investigation revealed that Marshall was arrested on May 1 and body camera footage of the arrest was available. Police reviewed the footage and determined that Marshall's physique was similar to that of the suspect in the March 19 robbery, the affidavit states.

In addition, police noted that Marshall was arrested on June 24 for possession of a firearm and evading arrest, the affidavit states.

According to the affidavit, police learned that the gun found as Marshall fled from officers in the June 24 incident may be connected to the gun used in the March 19 robbery.

According to the affidavit, authorities obtained a DNA search warrant for Marshall and collected DNA samples to compare to DNA found on the glove from the March 19 incident.

The results of the DNA report indicated that the DNA found on the glove belonged to Marshall, the affidavit said.

A warrant was issued for Marshall's arrest because of this incident.

On June 18, police were called to another incident in the 1800 block of North 7th Street for reports of a domestic dispute.

When police arrived at the scene, they spoke to the complainant, Marshall's girlfriend, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states that Marshall's girlfriend told police that Marshall attacked her.

Marshall's girlfriend said Marshall got into an argument with her over an incident involving her daughter.

According to the affidavit, Marshall's girlfriend said Marshall threw water in her face and hit her in the face.

She also claims Marshall grabbed her hair, ripped out her extensions and dragged her across the floor with a backpack she was wearing, the affidavit states.

Police took photos of Marshall's girlfriend at the scene and found injuries consistent with her statement, the affidavit said.

Officers noticed that Marshall's girlfriend had a split and swollen lip, cuts on her knees and elbows, and her hair was disheveled and baggy, as if someone had pulled on it, the affidavit said.

Police searched Marshall's criminal record and found several arrests for violent offenses, including a previous conviction for assault on a family member in 2011, the affidavit said.

Marshall was later arrested and is being held in the McLennan County Jail on a total bail of $110,000.
