10-25 years in prison for Alliance drug dealers

An Alliance drug dealer has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term following multiple convictions related to meth dealing.

In two separate cases in Scotts Bluff District Court, 35-year-old Rueben Mendez pleaded no contest to two counts of possession of meth (28-139 grams) and one count of delivery of an exceptionally dangerous drug.

Mendez was the target of a WING Drug Task Force investigation in which he was found to have sold 4 ounces to a pound of meth to an informant over the course of four controlled buys. In that case, he was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison based on the two convictions.

In the other case, officers throughout Scotts Bluff County observed him getting out of his car multiple times and noticed him dropping baggies of methamphetamine.

In this case, an additional sentence of 5 to 10 years was added to be served after the first conviction, giving a total sentence of 10 to 25 years in prison.
