Angela Cheatham honors her son on the anniversary of his death

Angela Cheatham says she will never forget the day she lost her son. Nearly a decade later, she's still searching for answers.Cheatham says losing a child is never easy.“I had a good son. I'm not saying he was perfect, no, but I had a good son because he worked. He took care of his family. He was a good son,” Cheatham said.Cheatham's son Roger was shot and killed in his apartment nearly a decade ago, leaving his children without a father.“They have it tough, they do. It's been tough, really tough on them, and that's what hurts the most, watching them grow up without their father,” Cheatham said.Birmingham police are investigating the shooting, but after eight years, there are no leads.“The preliminary investigation revealed suspects broke into his apartment while he and his two young children were inside, they shot him and another man and left the place. “To date, we have not taken anyone into custody,” said Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department. The Birmingham Police Department is offering a $10,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest. Cheatham said she cannot understand why her son is no longer here. “I want them to pay for what they did and I have forgiven them. I had to pray about it. I have forgiven them, but I will never forget, but I have forgiven them and I just want to know why,” Cheatham said.
