Woman killed in car crash in Rowan County, cops say

ROWAN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) – A woman was killed in a traffic crash in Rowan County Friday morning, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

According to police, the accident occurred around 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of North Carolina Highway 152 and Teeter Road.

The 21-year-old woman was driving a white Mercedes and was stopped northbound at the intersection of Highway 152 and Teeter Road.

A Ford F-550 work truck was traveling east on Highway 152. The driver of the truck was unable to stop and swerved to the right to avoid hitting the cars in front of him, troopers said.

According to the highway police, the truck driver drove through the intersection where he hit the Mercedes.

The woman died at the scene of the accident.

The truck driver is accused of negligent homicide and road traffic violations.
