Suspect in police-involved shooting in Palm Bay dies after killing his sister-in-law, police say

The suspect in the shooting involving a Palm Bay police officer last week has died, police said.

The incident began when 29-year-old Joseph Fleming allegedly shot his sister-in-law, 23-year-old Jacquelyn Wray, in a home on Biarritz Street.

Palm Bay police arrived at the scene around 9 a.m. Friday after receiving a report of a suspicious incident, which was later determined to be an armed domestic dispute. When officers entered the home, they were immediately fired upon by Fleming. Officers returned fire, striking him.
