Boston police arrest man after driving aggression incident in which firearm found

BOSTON – Boston police arrested a Dorchester man on firearms charges after officers seized a loaded gun during a road rage dispute, authorities said Friday.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday when officers from Precinct B-2 (Roxbury) responded to reports of a person with a weapon at 488 Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester.

When they arrived, they encountered a victim pointing at an occupied vehicle and screaming.

The victim told police that a verbal argument occurred with the occupants of the other vehicle near the corner of Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road.

The argument escalated when both vehicles stopped at a traffic light and a passenger in the other vehicle, later identified as 24-year-old Davente Monteiro, got out and began taking photographs of the victim's car.

Monteiro then opened the passenger door of the victim's vehicle and threatened the victim, causing the victim to believe that Monteiro was armed.

During the investigation, officers searched the suspect's vehicle and found a firearm in a backpack in the back seat.

The weapon, a Glock 30 .45 caliber with one round in the chamber and 17 rounds in a high capacity magazine, also had a magazine extension and a rail accessory attached.

Monteiro was arrested along with the other two occupants of the vehicle.

B-2 detectives recovered the firearm and further investigation led to Monteiro's arrest.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges that include carrying a firearm without a permit, carrying a loaded firearm without a permit, possession of a large capacity firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.
