Sentencing for former Greensburg police officer Regina McAtee postponed in methamphetamine case

The sentencing date for a former Greensburg police officer involved in a drug case has been postponed until February.

The lawyer for 51-year-old Regina McAtee of New Kensington recently requested more time to prepare for the hearing in a federal court document. McAtee's sentencing was scheduled for August 22. The new date is February 19.

She pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to distribute and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute for offenses between November 2020 and January 2023.

Prosecutors said she worked with former Greensburg Police Chief Shawn Denning, 43, of Delmont, to order and pay for drugs online from suppliers. The pills they ordered, which contained methamphetamine, were delivered to McAtee's home and she made payments via Cash App to the online suppliers, investigators said.

McAtee was suspended without pay for five months in early 2023 and retired later that year. Since August, McAtee has received her pension payment every month since her retirement.

Denning awaits sentencing on Dec. 18 for his role in the case. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit drug trafficking in April. He was arrested by federal investigators at Greensburg City Hall in January 2023 and subsequently resigned.
