One dead, two in hospital in serious accident in Woburn – Boston 25 News

After a serious accident in Woburn on Friday evening, one person was killed and two others had to be taken to hospital.

Police and firefighters responded to an accident involving a truck and a sedan at the intersection of Commerce Way and Atlantic Avenue, a neighborhood lined with shops.

One person in the truck was killed and two others were injured, Woburn Police Chief Robert Rufo told Boston 25.

The driver of the sedan was not injured. The two injured occupants of the truck were conscious and awake, according to Rufo.

Several police cars surrounded and cordoned off the badly damaged vehicles.

As a result of the accident, power was lost to a nearby residence. Electricians will work to restore power after officials complete their investigation into the accident.

Woburn police asked residents and motorists to avoid the area.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
