Detectives investigate double shooting involving multiple suspects

BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) – Bridgeport police are investigating a shooting incident involving multiple suspects that left a woman dead and a man in critical condition.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation at 2:25 a.m. near the intersection of Stratford Avenue and Carroll Avenue.

Witnesses reported hearing numerous gunshots and seeing two people being shot.

When officers arrived, they found a 28-year-old Bridgeport woman lying unconscious on the sidewalk next to the fence at 1365 Stratford Avenue.

Rescue personnel confirmed her death on site.

Shortly after the first report, the Bridgeport Police Department's emergency dispatch center was notified of a second victim.

A 30-year-old Bridgeport man was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds after being struck near Stratford and Carroll Avenues.

His condition remains critical.

The man is currently in critical condition.

Patrol officers secured the crime scene and notified the criminal investigation department.

The Homicide Squad, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Unit, is busy collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses and notifying the victims' next of kin.

According to police, several shooters were involved.
