Genevan arrested for repeated violation of protection order

A Geneva man was arrested Thursday for first-degree criminal contempt after twice violating a court order of protection, according to Geneva police.

Preston X. Lofton, 44, was arrested on Castle Street after an arrest warrant was issued by the City of Geneva Criminal Court. The warrant alleges that Lofton attempted to contact the protected person at her residence twice in July, violating a Stay Away order.

Lofton, who has a previous conviction for criminal contempt, now faces two counts of first-degree criminal contempt. Officer Derek Grillone made the arrest.
