Sturgis woman killed in shooting at McDonald's in White Pigeon | WKZO | Everything Kalamazoo

WHITE PIGEON, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Michigan State Police from Post Marshall said a shooting Friday afternoon in the parking lot of the McDonald's restaurant in White Pigeon involving an estranged married couple from Sturgis resulted in the death of the woman, while the man who allegedly fired the shots is in critical condition.

According to state police, the shooting occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the couple met for their usual child exchange.

According to police, a verbal argument broke out while the 25-year-old woman was sitting in her vehicle and the 29-year-old man was standing outside.

At some point, the male suspect is said to have pulled out a firearm and shot the female victim several times before shooting himself.

The woman was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital, where she later died.

The man was taken to Kalamazoo Bronson Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No one else was shot or injured in the incident. According to state police, the couple's children were not present as they were apparently with other family members.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by multiple agencies including White Pigeon and Constantine Police and Fire Departments, Three Rivers Police and EMS, St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office, Life Care Ambulance, Med Flight and Samaritan Flight. This incident remains unexplained pending further investigation, autopsy results and laboratory analysis.

Once completed, a copy of the full report will be submitted to the St. Joseph County District Attorney's Office for review.
